Tom Felton Returns as Draco Malfoy in Broadway’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Tom Felton is going back to Hogwarts — but this time, it's on Broadway!
In an announcement that sent waves through the Wizarding World fandom, the actor best known for portraying Draco Malfoy across all eight Harry Potter films will reprise the role in the stage adaptation Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Felton will make his Broadway debut in the role starting November 11, 2025, at the Lyric Theatre, for a limited 19-week engagement through March 22, 2026.
A Full-Circle Moment
“Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honours of my life,” Felton shared. “Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I’ll also be the exact age Draco is in the play. It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoes—and of course his iconic platinum blond hair—and I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world.”
Fans around the globe have expressed excitement at Felton's return, celebrating the unique synchronicity between the actor’s real-life age and the character’s arc in the play.
The Legacy Continues
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany. The play is set 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, focusing on Harry Potter’s son, Albus, and his own struggles with legacy, identity, and destiny. Draco plays a pivotal role as both a father and a former rival, now navigating the challenges of adulthood.
Broadway Magic Incoming
Felton’s Broadway debut is expected to breathe new life into the long-running show, drawing a surge of Potterheads to the Lyric Theatre. It also marks a special return to the spotlight for the actor, who has remained closely tied to the fandom through conventions, public appearances, and memoir work.
Expect this limited run to be one of the most magical events of the 2025–2026 theater season.
