As diplomatic efforts stall, the U.S. and Israel propose a final ultimatum to Hamas.

After months of failed attempts to broker a cease-fire and secure the release of hostages in Gaza, U.S. and Israeli officials are shifting their approach. The new strategy? An "all or nothing" deal aimed at ending the war and returning all captives.

🕊️ The New Strategy: "Everybody Comes Home"

In a private meeting over the weekend, Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Middle East envoy under President Trump, told families of Israeli hostages:

“We think that we have to shift this negotiation to ‘all or nothing’ — everybody comes home.”

The deal reportedly under consideration would demand:

  • 🧍‍♂️ The release of all remaining hostages
  • 🔫 The full disarmament of Hamas

In return, Israel would agree to halt its military operations and potentially ease humanitarian blockades.

🧱 Hamas Responds

However, Hamas officials have pushed back, stating they have not received a formal proposal. While the group supports a broad agreement in principle, it rejects full disarmament, seeing it as a nonstarter.

"We won’t disarm while under siege," said Mahmoud Mardawi, a Hamas spokesperson.

📉 Humanitarian & Political Pressures Mount

The push for a final agreement comes as:

  • 🌍 Global criticism rises over conditions in Gaza, including starvation and infrastructure collapse.
  • 🏠 Domestic pressure builds in Israel, where families of hostages are demanding urgent action.

A recent Hamas video showing Evyatar David, an emaciated hostage held in what appeared to be an underground tunnel, has intensified public outcry.

🔥 What’s at Stake?

The proposed deal would likely represent the final diplomatic window to halt the conflict before a full-scale escalation resumes. If Hamas refuses the terms:

  • Israel is expected to intensify its military operations
  • Civilian casualties could dramatically rise
  • Regional stability would be further threatened

🧭 The Road Ahead

For now, the future of the “all or nothing” deal remains uncertain. Negotiators face a massive challenge: convince all sides to give something up in exchange for a chance at peace.

With hostages' lives on the line and an entire region watching, the clock is ticking.
