A Bold Strike in the Ongoing Conflict

In a daring and meticulously planned operation, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has claimed responsibility for a powerful underwater bomb attack on Russia’s Kerch Strait Bridge — a vital connection between occupied Crimea and Russia’s Krasnodar Krai.

The operation reportedly involved months of covert planning and was executed at precisely 4:44 a.m. without causing any civilian casualties. The SBU shared dramatic footage and photographs of the operation on their official Telegram channel.

The Damage

According to the SBU, the underwater supports of the bridge piers were severely compromised. Explosives equivalent to 1,100 kilograms of TNT were strategically placed on the bridge’s underwater foundation, causing a state of emergency for the structure.

"SBU agents mined the supports of this illegal facility," the statement read. "And today, without any civilian casualties, the first explosive device was activated."

This is not the first time Ukraine has targeted Russian infrastructure in Crimea — the attack comes just two days after drone strikes damaged part of Russia's strategic bomber fleet.

Strategic Importance

The Kerch Strait Bridge, also known as the Crimean Bridge, is a symbolic and strategic target. It is a crucial supply route for Russian military logistics and holds significant propaganda value for the Kremlin.

Destroying or disrupting it signals Ukraine's increasing operational capability and undermines Russian control over Crimea, a region annexed by Moscow in 2014.

International Reactions

As of now, there has been no formal comment from the Kremlin. International observers are closely monitoring the situation, noting that this escalation could trigger new tensions or military responses from Russia.
